Quiz/Homework #2
Now that you've seen the Scientific Frontiers program, "Coming Into America," you need to read some more.
There are three major models we'll look at.  Be sure to refer to Chapter 1 in your Sutton text for his take on the models.
The BBC's summary of their program "Stone Age Columbus" explains more on the Salutrean model as seen in the film in class.
Now, you need to think about the other two.  The 3-wave genetics model is explained in the article,
"On the Number of New World Founders: A Population Genetic Portrait of the Peopling of the Americas" by Jody Hey.  There are also a number of excellent maps and genetic charts to help you understand the language.
Then there is the old stand-by, the Beringia model.
For your assignment, briefly discuss each model so I can see you understand.  Then, tell me your hypothesis.  Be sure to back up your thinking with the evidence from the articles, your textbook and the film, "Coming Into America."
